In 1969, Apollo 11, NASA’s most famous achievement, landed astronauts on the Moon. It remains the only extraterrestrial body that humans have ever visited. There hasn’t been a manned mission to the moon since 1972 but there are plans to send men again, and women this time. It is rarely mentioned that it is a woman, Margaret Hamilton, the lead software engineer of the Apollo Project who wrote — by hand — the code that was used to take humanity to the Moon. Our ‘Trip to the Moon’ issue celebrates the 50th anniversary of this mind-blowing event. We had achieved the impossible.

We also give tribute to Bauhaus, born 100 years ago this year. With its strict geometric shapes and use of metallic materials, it continues to be Modernism’s most influential movement.

...but it is by observing the stars that we are reminded of the miracle of nature, our existence. Let’s continue to honor, observe and learn more about the fragile balancing act that is life on earth...
